The long goodbye is over for the Regan family. I am sure that in some ways it is a relief.
It was poignant to listen to Ronald Regans life being described as his world was acres of land and ended up being a den. For the person with Alzheimer their world gets smaller as the disease progresses.
It is heartbreaking to watch the person you love slowly losing their identity. No longer being able to do the things they used to do.
I have no idea how long I will be saying a long goodbye. I can only hope that I will be able to follow Nancy Regan's example.
