As the weather starts to warm up and the days are growing longer my mind turns to thoughts of Spring and I get an itch to start working in the yard. However, I know I need to be patient a little while longer because planting things too early could be a diaster. There is still the possibility of a hard frost. I see the green stems of bulbs peeking up and feel once again hope. I am reminded of a sign I see when I drive by a storage shed. "Hope springs eternally." In wonder I watch as buds on trees get ready to pop open like popcorn kernels. Always amazed that naked trees once again clothe themselves with flowers and leaves. Watching the different acts of nature's play I am reminded that there is a cycle and everything has its' own timetable. In addition I am reminded that things which appear dead may very well be alive. Thoughts of spring remind me there is a lot I do not know. Like how does a bulb know it is time to start peeking its' head up through the soil. How does a tree know when it is time to let go and pop open the buds on it. Spring is on its' way and hope springs eternally. Winter will fade away as spring arrives with a profusion of flowers proclaiming that hope is still alive. Spring...The Renewal Of Life - Monday, Mar. 21, 2005
