As you have been journeying with me have you been aware of your surroundings? Have you smelled the hyacinths in bloom with their heady almost exotic scent? Have you noticed the trees leafing out as they clothe themselves in festive garb? Have you felt gentle wind on your face or the warmth of the sun on your back? Have you heard the birds sing? Have you taken a few moments to rest and be in the here and now? I hope that you have. Nature can help us find peacefulness and calmness in an otherwise chaotic world. For me I also discover new things about myself as I contemplate nature. Nature can teach me lessons of life. One of the lessons that nature teaches is the letting go. Leaves in the Fall let go,blossoms on trees let go, even the snow finally melts away and turns to another form. Often I suspect that the letting go is not by choice but sometimes it seems like there is a choice. I have seen apples bravely hanging onto a tree through the cold winter days only to shrivel up and become unfit for anything. I have also seen people shrivel up because they can not let go. So the question I am asking myself now is... "What things do I need to let go of?" Flower petals let go. As Spring wind softly blows. Fluttering gracefully to the ground below. Nature's lesson on "letting go". copyright © 2002 |
